1. An Essay on: Peace

What is in your Toolbox for Peace?
Religion is the tool for peace. All Indian religions teach people the lesson of peace and non-violence. I am going to narrate a story on this. This is a very old story, more than five hundred years old. A king ruled over Dholakpur. His name was Narendra. And his commander in chief’s name was Anand. Dholakpur’s people were good and kind. They lived together in harmony. But the king was very proud.
One day he gave an order to the commander in chief, Anand. But he did not obey the order. Because he had a dispute with the king on some matter. Anand clearly said to the king, “I shall not obey your order.” The king got angry and said, “How dare you disobey me?” Both of them were angry and were ready to have a fight. The king roared, “I will kill you.” And then he took out his sword to attack. Anand only laughed proudly, “Ha! Ha! Ha!” He was proud of his strength and was not afraid of the king. He said to the king, “Before long, you shall be killed by me.” The kings struck his sword on Anand, but he stretched forward his shield and saved himself. Then he brandished his sword to hurt the king, but he dodged it. Both of them roared and tried hard to kill each other. Both of them were expert in sword fighting and so the fight went on for a long time. Then both of them were injured and their body started bleeding from several places.
Now, from that lonely place, a monk was passing by. He was very learned, kind and compassionate. He saw the fight and felt pity for king and the commander in chief. He cried out, “Stop! O king!” Hearing a stranger’s sound, both the warriors stopped for a while and looked around. They saw the monk and suddenly they felt ashamed of their deed. They lowered their swords and bowed to the monk. The monk said to them that if the king and the commander fight among themselves, who was going to protect the country from enemies. Moreover, both of them were well educated and had honour for religion. He asked them how was it that they forgot to behave well. The monk preached them the importance of peace and non-violence.
Both of them reconciled with each other and vowed never to involve in petty fights, to be disciplined and work honestly for the welfare of their country.

If I were a Doctor (A Short Essay)

                                                                       If I were a Doctor

I had always dreamt of becoming a doctor. If I were a doctor, I would be a very respectable person in my society. I would work hard for curing my patients. I would not like to be a doctor just for the sake of earning money. I would work to help poor people and provide them my treatment.

I would open a hospital with very good facilities and modern machines and equipment for the treatment of patients. Here I would serve my facilities to the poor free of cost. I have seen that the poor people are not able to get proper treatment due to lack of money. In private hospitals, the costs are very high and in government hospitals there are not enough facilities to serve the people. So in such a situation, the poor usually have to suffer. This thing bothers me the most and compels me to do something for the betterment of the poor.

Along with other facilities, I would take special care of hygiene in my hospital. Hygienic environment can only help to cure patients fast. I would also provide information to the people about various diseases so that they can prevent them. I would organise camps in villages and provide my services to the people living there. I would fulfill my duty and responsibilities towards the people with great determination. I would spend my life serving to the poor.
