An Autobiography of a Mango Tree
Sir,
Hello! I am mango tree. People call me the "King of Fruits " tree because l give sweet and tasty mangoes. I am the biggest and oldest! Today l will tell you the story of my life.
My journey started many years ago as a tiny seed. Someone ate a mango and threw the seed on the ground. That seed was me! I don't know what type of life l would have with sun, rain, animals and people. I stayed on the ground for many days.
One day it rained so heavily. The soil became soft and slowly i went into the earth. It was dark and quiet. Then, rain and sunlight made me grow. I came out of the seed and slowly, went down into the soil. It was not easy, but I keep going. One day, l came out of the ground. I was a small green plant looking at the sun for the first time.
At that time, l was very weak. The wind was strong, and the rain was heavy, but the soil kept me safe there. I started growing little by little.
A kind farmer saw me and decided to take care of me. He gave me water and protected me. l started to grow slowly. I felt happy. My leaves became green and shiny. I was growing into a tree. Birds started to sit on me. Some butterflies come and dance around my leaves.
Years passed, now, I was bigger, stronger and taller. My branches spread wide. l gave shade to children, youngers, elders and animals. Peoples laughed, sang songs and sometimes even hugged me. l felt very proud and happy.
One year, I saw something new. Tiny flowers grew on my branches. They were small and good smelling. Bees and butterflies came to them. After some time, those flowers changed into small green fruits. Slowly, they became yellow and ripe. I had grown my first mangoes!
The farmer and his family were very happy. They picked the mangoes from me and ate them. "So tasty and yummy !" they said. I felt proud and happy that I gave such happiness and joy to the peoples.
Every year, i gave more mangoes. People came from faraway places to taste them. Some climbed on my branches and picked the fruits. And some sat under me and rested. I was feeling happy because I gave food, shade and happiness to peoples and as well as animals. Many birds made their nest under on me. Squirrels played on my trunk. In short, i was home for many tiny animals.
Seasons changed every year. In spring , I grew new leaves. In summer, i gave fruits. In monsoon, i drank a lot of water. In winter, i rested. Each season was different, and i enjoyed them all.
One day, a woodcutter came with an axe. He wanted to me cut down. I was very scared. But the farmer stopped him. "This tree is very useful" he said. "It gives fruit and shade. Do not harm it." The woodcutter went away. I was safe again.
As time passed, l grew old. My bark became rough , and some of my branches became weak. But still, i gave fruits and shades. The farmer's children had grown up. They brought their own children to play under me. I had become a part of their family.
I have seen many things in my life. I saw children grow into adults. I saw bird came and went. I saw storms and sunshine. I saw happiness and sadness as well. But through all this, I stood tall and gave my best to everyone.
Today, I am an old mango tree. My roots go deep into the ground. My branches still try to reach the sky. I am proud of my life. I did not move from my place, but I became a part of many lives. Peoples, birds and animals - all found something from me.
I hope l live for many more years and continue to give fruits, shade, love and happiness to everyone who comes near me.
This is the story of my life - the life of a mango tree.
Yours obediently
